The "Red, White & Blue Papers" Scott Keller in a Series, on the Issues
This paper discusses Health Care
Where are we and where do we want to be regarding health care?
Let's start with where we want to be. Ideally, we would have a system that helps everyone be healthy, right? What's the path to get there? Is there an alternative path or more than one alternative path? What's standing in our way?
First, we need to eliminate conflicts of interest in our health care system. As long as money is the primary motivator of doctors, hospitals, and companies, there will be a conflict of interest inherent in our system. Health care professionals are supposed to have the patient's health as their number one goal, but ironically, an increase in sick people translates to an increase in profits. A principle is created, where the more sick people there are, and the longer people are sick and paying for treatments, the more profit is made by pharmaceutical companies and doctors. The players in the health care system (particularly insurance agencies) force doctors to do what is financially beneficial for the third party payer, the medical suppliers, and themselves.
Second, we need to get rid of the Federal Reserve. Like it or not, currently health care is tied to the economy. As long as we don't have sovereign money, or some kind of sovereign means of exchange, we will have a hard time on a national level with anything related to the economy. Right now the money all belongs to the Federal Reserve, and they are the ones who control our money. We need to print our own. Then we'll have enough to accommodate medical needs until we can change the system to be free from the conflicts of interest which we should be working to eliminate.
Third, start a non-profit co-op group which is tasked with finding and communicating all of the best practices, medically or otherwise related to health, to the public, companies, and professionals, so that everyone knows of the best practices available. In fact, we need to free the hands of non-profits so that non-profit hospitals can win the day over for-profit hospitals at a lower cost. This is an emergent process which we are looking to begin within this campaign, so join us and help contribute.
Fourth, we need to stop stomping on people who have come up with great ideas, especially if those ideas have been tested and shown to work. The story of Stanislaw Burzynski is shameful. Here's a man who discovered something that actually works on cancer patients, without the toxicity and side-effects of chemotherapy, and the FDA tried repeatedly to squash him at the request of the pharmaceutical companies. This sort of action by the government is just plain wrong, and a blatant misuse of taxpayer money.
Fifth, we should have the time and food we need to be healthy. Preventive measures to ensure Americans are healthy are key to limiting the need for costly visits to the hospital. By promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing people with the ability to live healthy lifestyles, we can solve many of our health issues, such as the obesity epidemic, diabetes, and even cancer.
Let's take away the stress of constant work, being limited to cheap, unhealthy foods, and not seeming to have enough time, as much as possible. Let's give ourselves the time and access to facilities to exercise properly, regardless of our financial abilities. Let's make sure we have healthy food that tastes good, and is affordable for everyone (even free if we can!). Let's make sure farmers are abundant and well-taken care of. Let's make sure our farmers have a safer line of work, and can be able to grow food without destroying the environment or being pressured by big business that looks to consolidate all the farmland and crops into their hands. Let's get rid of genetic modifications to our food, and take chemical and genetic companies out of the food equation.
